Meet Joel Dahmen

Joel Dahmen grew up in Clarkston, Washington, where his love for golf began at a young age. Raised in a tight-knit community, Joel learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of supporting one another—lessons that would carry him through both triumph and tragedy.

At just 12 years old, Joel faced the unimaginable when his mother, Jolyn, was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the challenges, she remained his biggest supporter, encouraging him to pursue his dreams on the golf course. Tragically, Jolyn passed away when Joel was just 16, leaving a profound impact on his life and fueling his determination to honor her memory through his work both on and off the course.

Joel’s path to professional golf wasn’t without its obstacles. After playing collegiate golf at the University of Washington, he spent years grinding on mini-tours and the Korn Ferry Tour, working tirelessly to earn his PGA Tour card. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he secured full playing privileges on the PGA Tour.

Since then, Joel has become known not just for his skill on the course, but for his genuine personality, relatability, and sense of humor that resonates with golf fans around the world. His candid approach to the game—embracing both the highs and lows—has made him a fan favorite and a refreshing voice in professional golf.

The Dahmen Family Foundation was born from Joel’s desire to give back—to support families dealing with illness, to provide opportunities for young people, and to strengthen the communities that need it most. Through charitable initiatives, fundraising events like the annual Joel Jam golf tournament, and partnerships with local organizations, Joel is committed to making a lasting difference.

“My mom always taught me to be grateful for what I have and to help others whenever possible,” Joel reflects. “This foundation is my way of honoring her legacy and giving back to the people who supported me along the way.”

When he’s not competing on the PGA Tour, Joel spends his time in Scottsdale, AZ, and stays connected to his roots in the Pacific Northwest. He remains actively involved in the foundation’s work, regularly participating in events and connecting with the communities his foundation serves.
